Review

David, who is not the outdoorsy type, is definitely not looking forward
to the end-of-year camping trip with his classmates. What if they should
get lost or be attacked by wild animals? To make matters worse, instead
of sharing a tent with his best friends, Jason, Matt, and Jonathan, he
is stuck with Bradley, the new kid. And what could a city slicker like
Bradley possibly know about survival in the wilderness? Predictably,
Bradley is much more experienced and knowledgeable than David
anticipates and ultimately rescues him when he becomes lost in the
woods.

Young readers will enjoy this short, fast-paced novel. The inclusion of
camping and nature lore will make it particularly appealing to would-be
campers. A welcome addition to school and library “first-novel”
collections. Recommended.
