Review

Michael is a 17-year-old hockey player in the Western Hockey League. The
product of a troubled background (he has spent time in reform school),
he has a reputation for violence both on and off the ice. His best
friend on the team is a Native American who has become involved with
radical Indian activists. When he fails to extricate himself from their
plot to blow up a dam in British Columbia, Michael comes to his rescue.

This fast-paced, action-packed story features car chases, a kidnapping,
an attempted bombing, and riveting hockey. What makes it more than a
simple adventure is the central character, who undergoes a metamorphosis
that is both compelling and convincing. By the end of the story, Michael
realizes that life, however, difficult, is a precious gift. Recommended.
