Review

Stevie Diamond and her friend Jesse Kulniki arrive in Winnipeg for the
Christmas holidays. Jesse’s 16-year-old Uncle Misha is depressed and
angry: he’s been accused of stealing rare orchids from the Carnivore
Club. Stevie and Jesse set out to discover the real thief, enduring in
the process a blizzard, a power blackout, and a dangerous struggle
through snowdrifts. As the suspense builds, one of their clever schemes
tricks the thief. The conclusion is both satisfying and unexpected.

Interwoven into this lighthearted and intriguing story is information
about carnivorous plants and horticultural notes on orchids. The subplot
of Stevie’s attempted flirtation with Misha adds humor and will appeal
to middle readers. This book is the fourth in the series. Highly
recommended.
