Review

For his fifth birthday, Aaron receives his first pet, a puppy. Soon
after, a stray cat joins the family and produces six kittens. At the end
of the school year, Aaron volunteers to care for the class guinea pig at
home. Toward the end of the summer, Aaron develops health problems,
which are diagnosed as allergies. A miserable Aaron must find new homes
for his beloved pets. Then his mother buys him a beautiful fish.
Skeptical at first, Aaron soon becomes very attached to his new pet and
begins to think about other creatures he could care for.

A source of inspiration for children with allergies, this book teaches
all children about responsible pet ownership. The illustrations are
colorful, whimsical, and detailed. A delightful book for animal lovers.
Highly recommended.
