Review

This delightful, cleverly illustrated story is about a hungry wolf who
moves into an empty house beside a chicken coop. With an ulterior motive
in mind, he dresses in his best clothes and invites the chickens to
dinner at eight. While he is preparing vegetables and a pot large enough
to hold all of the chickens, he sees the chickens pass by the kitchen
window several times throughout the day. Each time they pass, the
chickens politely ask what time it is. The wolf notices that they are
carrying several things into the chicken coop, including rope and wooden
planks. Needless to say, the chickens outwit the wolf when suppertime
finally arrives.... Young readers will be drawn to this book’s
straightforward plot and colorful, collage-style illustrations. Highly
recommended.
