Review

The Ghouls’ Night Out follows three friends through the calendar year,
focusing on their adventures on Halloween night. Annalise, a witch,
Ernie, a ghost, and Milton, a skeleton, lead an agreeable life in a
haunted house. Each contributes to the home’s haunted appearance by
peeling paint from the exterior, unfastening doors and shutters in order
to make them bump in the night, and knitting cobwebs as an
interior-decorating feature. On Halloween they enjoy standing by their
front gate and watching strange creatures pass by. Upon seeing the three
friends, the creatures shout and drop their candy sacks.

One Halloween, the ghouls decide to wear costumes that will make them
look like ordinary children. It is a change that leaves them with no
tricks or treats. Discouraged, they shed their costumes and head for
home only to find under the streetlight other creatures who scream and
drop their candy bags. As a result of this unexpected bonus, the
ghoulish friends decide to be themselves next Halloween.

This delightfully amusing romp would make an ideal choice for the
Halloween season. Recommended.
