Severn Cullis-Suzuki, the 13-year-old daughter of David Suzuki, formed,
with friends, the Environmental Children’s Organization (ECO). She
took their message to the Earth Summit on environmental problems, which
convened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. Tell the World includes the
passionate speech made on that occasion, and suggestions for what
children can do to help, both in schools and in their own neighborhoods.
At the Earth Summit, Severn reminded the adult audience that they must
change their ways; that she is fighting for her own future and that of
coming generations; and that we are what we do, not what we say. Her
message is simple, clear, and powerful. The colorful illustrations of
people, animals, and their environments are by students of two Ontario
high schools. This book will appeal to children from 6 to 14, and should
be in school libraries across Canada. Highly recommended.
