Review

Two 12-year-old detectives, one little green dog, and a prankster who
delights in playing juvenile tricks are just four of the ingredients
that make up this fast-paced, funny adventure, set in modern-day
Vancouver.

During their spring vacation, Stevie Diamond and her best friend and
partner, Jesse Kulniki, help out at a dog-sitting business. They find a
stray dog (which they accidentally dye green) and soon discover that it
is stolen. The thief is a prankster who has already locked up a
basketball star and swiped the prime minister’s underwear. Working the
case, Stevie and Jesse encounter several suspects as the complications
mount up; but in the end they catch their “man.”

The characters in this fifth Stevie Diamond mystery are hilarious and
guaranteed to hold the reader’s attention from the first chapter. The
book also features a good story line based on recent events, an
easy-to-read text, and a suspense-filled plot. It should be a hit with
readers in Grade 4 and up. Recommended.
