Review

The 13th volume in Weekes’s series of hockey trivia books continues to
utilize the now-familiar reader-involving format.

Occupying most of the book, which focuses on the National Hockey
League, are seven sections consisting of multiple-choice questions. Each
of these question sections is organized around a theme, such as “The
Crease Kings” (goalies) or “Millennium Men” (players who have
scored 1000 points). After each question, readers are presented with
four possible choices, and the correct answers are provided immediately
following each question section. Instead of providing just a one-line
answer, the author embeds the correct response in an informative
paragraph that provides a context.

The book’s two other major sections are a true or false quiz of 31
questions and a “Reader Rebound Section” that presents 20 questions
have been asked by readers of this series. Sandwiched between these
major sections are word finds, matching games, and a crossword puzzle.
Though an obvious individual purchase for NHL aficionados, Extreme
Hockey Trivia merits consideration by public and middle/senior
high-school libraries as well. Recommended.
