Review

The Amazing All-Star Hockey Activity Book is the result of a
collaboration between a hockey father and his two sons. This trio of
hockey enthusiasts has assembled a wide-ranging collection of quizzes,
puzzles, unusual statistics, and other features that should captivate
elementary- and middle-school students, and perhaps their parents as
well.

The book includes a six-page list of hockey-related Web sites. Each
site is annotated and rated on the basis of its appeal to the young fan.
Among the Web sites of NHL teams, the Ottawa Senators’ is rated best
(five pucks), while the Colorado Avalanche’s earns the poorest rating
(one puck). The book provides good coverage of NHL hockey, international
stars, and the rise of female hockey. Two pages show how the rules of
hockey have changed over the years.

This eclectic collection should provide young readers with hours of
amusement on a long Canadian winter’s night. Highly recommended.
