Review

You Asked? is a wonderful compilation of questions about the human body,
science and technology, space, plants, and animals. Designed for
children aged 8 and up, this book has it all: fascinating science, great
page layouts, and eye-catching graphics.

The questions themselves are the type that most adults have forgotten
how to ask: “Why do table knives have round edges?” “Why does
laughing make you feel so good?” “Why does a rabbit wiggle its
nose?” In all cases, explanations are concise and jargon-free. There
are typically two to four questions and answers per page. Despite the
volume of information, the editor has achieved an uncluttered look in
the book’s varying typefaces and graphic design. Breathtaking nature
photographs, cartoons, and witty illustrations (the sunbathing lemurs
are wonderful) contribute greatly to the overall effect. A subject
index, which enhances the book’s usefulness as a reference source, and
two quizzes are included. This is fun science, well written. Highly
recommended.
