Review

The All About Series is available in seven topics pertaining to aspects
of the Canadian experience: animals, provinces and territories, capital
cities, sports, attractions, famous Canadians, and geographical regions.

All About Canadian Geographical Regions is a set of seven picture
books. The first volume focuses on general facts about Canada—its
location, history, geography, climate, population, transportation,
resources, conservation, waterways, forestry, fishing, wildlife,
farming, occupations, and sports. Each of the other six is devoted to a
single region (the Appalachian Highlands, the Arctic, the Interior
Plains, the Lowlands, the Cordillera, the Canadian Shield); volumes
includes an introduction and one-page chapters on location, land,
climate, vegetation, wildlife, resources, industry where it pertains, a
summary, glossary, and an index.

These reference books are for beginning readers. The half-page size
makes for ease of use by small hands, the print is large and clear,
terms are well defined, and key words are highlighted in boldface type.
Repetitive sentence patterns and predictable, and organized sequencing
of themes increases the accessibility of the text. Full-page, color
photographs and maps accompany each section. The information is not
in-depth but serves as an effective overview. This series is highly
recommended.
