Review

Megan, her younger sister, Betsy, and their mother and father are
complex people with many interests, united by bonds of love and
affection. Into their cosy family circle comes an unexpected intruder:
Natalie, a 24-year-old daughter Megan’s mother had given up as an
infant. Megan’s comfortable world shatters. She must now come to terms
with the joint reality of her mother’s love for Natalie and her
half-sister’s ongoing presence in her life—an arrival that proves a
mixed blessing, even for her mother.

Strong characterization and an interesting story-line highlight this
rich, multilayered novel for young adults. Recommended.
