Review
Two preteens with lively imaginations discover, in the basement of their
school, storage jars containing what they think could be alien
creatures. The janitor, their teacher, and a couple of classmates all
seem to be acting strangely. After conducting an investigation of these
suspicious characters and pursuing other forms of research, the two
protagonists discover the solution to the mystery.
Reid effectively establishes setting and atmosphere and builds suspense
in this engrossing mystery. The surprise ending ties all the threads
together. Intriguing and fast-paced, Aliens in the Basement is
recommended as a first chapter book.
