Review

Clear and concise directions, step-by-step diagrams, and photos of the
finished product make crafting beanbag buddies and other novelty toys a
virtually goof-proof endeavor. There is an emphasis on practicality
throughout this craft book, from the opening discussion on common
household materials that can be used to create pleasing toys to the
simple but effective basic sewing instructions and diagrams. “Other
ideas” boxes suggest ways to expand the creative process; one example
is to finish a painted turtle’s shell with buttons instead of fabric
paint.

The most appealing feature of Beanbag Buddies and Other Stuffed Toys is
that the reader can look at the toy and make an instant decision about
what age and ability level it is suited to. Teachers, parents, or club
leaders working with special-needs children should be able to adapt
projects without undue difficulty. This eminently practical book is
suitable for multiple abilities and ages. Highly recommended.
