Review

This reprint of the award-winning 1991 edition is designed to help
children learn money management skills. The set, which comprises a
book-shaped bank and accompanying book, is simultaneously published in
the United States, so images of green American bills appear alongside
those of Canadian money; there is no mention of “toonies.” The text
covers a wide range of financial topics, including food banks, taxes,
debtors’ prison, ancient forms of currency, and the more child-centred
subjects of allowances, babysitting, budgeting, and writing cheques.

This set will require some parental involvement. Parents should discuss
each chapter with their child and ensure that finances are part of an
ongoing family discussion.

The book is highly recommended for libraries; both book and bank are
highly recommended for families.
