Review

In their introduction to this intriguing collection of “if only”
stories, the editors speculate: “Perhaps if our history were slightly
different, so would the whole world’s.” Thus, in “The Age of the
Jet,” by Eric Choi, the rescued Avro Arrow design leads Canada into a
controlling position in world aviation. In “Misfire,” by Shane
Simmons, the survival of Baron von Richthofen results in Britain’s
surrender and world domination by Hitler’s Nazis. Other stories detail
Russia’s complete domination of Canadian hockey and the separation of
Quebec.

Many of the contributors, including Eric Choi, Paula Johanson, and Edo
van Belkom, have published stories in anthologies and magazines that
specialize in Canadian science fiction and speculative fiction.
