Review

This book, written in a very humorous and accessible style, is for
anyone interested in learning about growing plants from seeds or wanting
to start their own geranium. Beginning with the basics of germination,
Laird outlines the required tools, soil, and water, and advises on the
choice of seeds. She then moves on to more advanced know-how, providing
an overview of the care and upkeep of seeds, how to deal with pests, and
how to handle the sometimes difficult task of transplantation.

The guide is well organized, and beginners will find it easy to use.
It includes all the necessary instructions for growing from scratch, and
should prove extremely useful to those deciding which seeds to plant.
The advice on soil mixes, fertilizers, and light requirements is
particularly valuable.
