Review

It is midwinter. Realtor Belle Palmer reluctantly baby-sits a spoiled
mini-poodle when her best friend is accused of murdering her rich lover,
an investment counsellor with a thousand enemies. As Belle attempts to
untangle a complicated web of sleazy scams, a stalker has her watching
her back in the frosty Northern Ontario bush she calls home. Is there a
connection between the two? Will she find the killer before the killer
finds her?

This incident-filled detective story is a real page-turner, with more
twists and turns en route to the denouement than there are notches on a
corkscrew. The author has also created a vivid picture of the trials and
tribulations (relentlessly cold weather, ice storms, blizzards, etc.) of
winter living in the rural bush area surrounding Sudbury. On many days,
Belle’s commute to and from work is an endurance test in itself.

Bush Poodles Are Murder is Allin’s second mystery featuring Belle
Palmer. Let’s hope it’s not his last.
