Review

For many young people, the Internet has become a major part of social
life. They send emails, chat with friends and family, download videos
and music, and play games. But there is a dark side to the Internet, and
it has become increasingly important that caregivers and teachers have
access to tools that will help them protect the children in their lives.

This very useful resource provides clear explanations about the
Internet and its components, including chat rooms, instant messaging,
newsgroups, blogs, and webcams, and describes the inherent dangers of
these components that children may encounter, such as cyberbullying and
email threats. However, for all the dangers that lurk online there are
solutions, and this book provides strategies for them.

The author is a certified computer forensics specialist who writes and
lectures on technology and computer crime. The guide includes a CD-ROM
with forms and checklists that caregivers and teachers can use to
investigate and prevent Internet threats.
