Review

This handy trivia resource deals mainly with the National Hockey League
(NHL), and the outstanding players and feats of the post-lockout era. As
a bonus, it includes facts best listed under categories like arcane,
esoteric, and enigmatic.

If you are a hockey nut who likes to amaze your friends with inside
information on NHL lore or oddball exploits, Shootout Hockey Trivia will
make your day. After reading the multiple-choice questions, the
true-and-false quizzes and the answers, you will know the only goalie to
wear two blocking gloves in a game, the nature of Jeremy Roenick’s
most painful injury, and the name of the wit who said of the lockout
season of 2004–05, “Fans are disappointed, but the action is
expected to save 3,000 teeth.” Weekes also examines the nature of the
improved game that emerged from the lockout season.

There should be space in the bookcases of most hockey trivia buffs for
this slim volume. No doubt a few bets will be peacefully settled by
research into this treasure trove of sports exploits and wonders.
