Review

These latest cases of “murder and mayhem” are perfect for anyone who
enjoys the challenge of solving a good mystery. Following the format set
in previous volumes, the difficulty of the case is indicated by a gun
symbol at the beginning of each case (one gun denotes an easy mystery to
solve whereas three guns signal the most difficult). The settings for
the mysteries range from Napoleonic Europe to the early days of the
Roman Empire and the destruction of Londinium by Queen Boadicea. An
undercover KGB agent, police detectives, army deserters, and even a
Roman centurion are just some of the fascinating characters found in the
stories.

Each of the 40 cases presented tests the reader’s skill of
observation, depth of reasoning, and ability to recall detail. Some
solutions may appear obvious, while others perplex and confound. Readers
may attempt to solve each mystery on their own, but for those who are
stumped or eager for a quick answer, the solutions are provided at the
back of the book.

Five-Minute Mysteries, 5 is another highly enjoyable collection of
puzzles and brainteasers from author Ken Weber and an ideal read for
anyone with time to kill.
