Review

Patricia Lovett-Reid is a senior vice-president with TD Waterhouse
Canada and the host of BNN’s MoneyTalk, a weekly call-in program on
personal finance. Her previous books on the subject of wealth management
include Take Charge Now: A Woman’s Guide to Personal and Family
Finance and Surprise! You’re Wealthy: A Woman’s Guide to Protecting
Her Wealth.

Live Well, Retire Well, Lovett-Reid’s fifth book, provides Canadians
with the tools they need to achieve “a successful and financially
predictable retirement.” The author’s retirement strategy, called
PATH, comprises four steps—“Picture yourself in retirement, Arm
yourself with the right financial and planning tools, Transition into
retirement with style, [and] Harmony: put it all together and leave a
legacy.” Case studies and questionnaires bolster the PATH strategy,
which is detailed in eight chapters. The book’s appendixes include a
net worth worksheet, an RSP contribution calculator, and a list of
recommended websites.

Lovett-Reid’s target audience—boomer Canadians between the ages of
40 and 60—is well served by her down-to-earth and informative guide to
retirement success.

All royalties from this edition of the book will be donated to
Gilda’s Club, a support centre for individuals and families living
with cancer.
