Review

Coming up with tasty meals at the end of a busy workday is always a
challenge. 30-Minute Weekday Meals offers a collection of time-tested
favourites that can be made very quickly.

The book suggests smart shortcuts for meal preparation and includes
many easy-to-follow recipes. Measurements are given in both imperial and
metric units, and there are excellent colour photos so you can compare
your results to those of the professionals. The book also includes a
list of items that should always be in your pantry, and suggestions on
side dishes that can turn a recipe into a meal. Paré features a wide
variety of recipes for hearty soups, such as the spicy Thai Chicken
Noodle Soup, and her “Make It a Meal” suggestion of serving the soup
with green onion cakes is excellent. While pizzas are always a
favourite, the Peppy Personal Pizza with its thin crust and colourful
vegetable toppings looks very appetizing. For steak lovers, I recommend
the truly mouth-watering Blue Cheese Buttered Steak. This cookbook
offers something healthy for even the pickiest eater in your family.
