Review

Well, why not combine a passion for historical fact with another for
crossword puzzles? Glenn Rusth has isolated 25 themes in Ontario’s
history and devised an equal number of puzzles to illustrate them. The
workmanship is not always impeccable. Some of the terms are not even
remotely related to the “chapter.” Why one would include NHL player
Carl Brewer’s first name and the nickname for a BMW automobile
(Beamer) in a puzzle titled “French vs. English, Iroquois vs. Huron”
is a puzzle in itself. That said, history buffs who would like to make
crosswords a diversionary part of their existence, and crossword keeners
who would like to add some terms from Canadian history to their arsenal,
might find sufficient reason to pick up the book.
