Review

Canadians seem to have an insatiable appetite for trivia. Witness the
success of the board game Trivial Pursuit, which was invented by a
couple of Canadians. In this latest book by Canada’s other trivia
guys, Mark Kearney and Randy Ray, readers will find a collection of
weird and wonderful stories about every facet of Canadian life.

After Russia, Canada has the world’s largest continuously forested
area. Canada’s first railway was built in 1836 by brewer John Molson.
At least 20 Canadian-born actors have been nominated for Academy Awards.
A surprising number of Canadian inventions have changed the world,
including the anti-gravity suit worn by astronauts, the JAVA computer
program, the pie-in-the-face gag, the pacemaker, and the Robertson
screwdriver. These are just a few of the hundreds of little-known facts
revealed in this unique and entertaining collection.

Fun and full of factual fare, Pucks, Pablum, and Pingos will satisfy
the curious and indulge the inquisitive.
