Review

Tailored for equity investors, this handbook provides one-page reports
on 414 current and former Toronto Stock Exchange 300 companies. Each
report has current and historic common stock statistics such as price
range, P/E ratio, dividends, cash flow per share, and book value, plus
total shares outstanding, ticker symbol, and exchange listings. A
54-month stock chart indicates price, moving average, volume, and
relative strength vis-а-vis the TSE 300. Information on bonds,
preferred shares, or unusual common share voting privileges is not
given. Abridged historic balance sheet and revenue numbers are augmented
by a ratio analysis of trends in growth and margins. A synopsis of
recent news follows a brief description of the business, and for each
industry sector there are excerpts from research reports contained in
Thomson Financial’s INVESTEXT database. Approximately 90 percent of
these reports are from U.S. brokerage firms. Earnings estimates from
I/B/E/S, which consolidates research from over 600 firms, are also
provided. An alphabetical index facilitates use and includes
descriptions and addresses for the remaining ROB 1000 companies for
which there is not a full company profile.

This handbook gives shareholders essential information in a concise and
convenient form. Its company profiles closely resemble (and compete
with) the two-page looseleaf “blue sheets” or Investor Reports
published by the Financial Post Data Group in conjunction with its
encyclopedic “yellow card” service.
