Review

Keith Garebian points out that the success of a musical like My Fair
Lady is the result of a collaborative process. Utilizing an informal
narrative approach, his text is more an exuberant celebration of the
many elements (e.g., libretto, score, and players) that can combine to
create popular theatrical success than it is a scholarly work dependent
upon a play’s literary merit or historical importance. This lively
book is of general interest to lovers of Broadway plays, and of
particular interest to those intrigued by the behind-the-scenes workings
of My Fair Lady.
