Review

Life and Death After Billy tells the story of Jane Hurshman, the Nova
Scotia woman who killed her husband after enduring years of abuse at his
hands. The focus is on the trial (which the author covered) and on
Hurshman’s life as a public figure and subsequent death.

The book is well written and documented, and can be read as a follow-up
to Life with Billy. Given its pervasiveness in Canada, domestic violence
is an issue that demands to be addressed. Specialists in the field and
general readers alike should read this book.
