Review

This thought-provoking and accessible book tackles the problem of
hunger, food kitchens, and food banks. The book is well researched and
documented (the author interviewed Canadians from coast to coast), and
comprehensive in its approach to the problems. The roots of poverty and
hunger are examined, and all of the participants are heard from: the
donors, the volunteers, the heads of foodbanks, and the poor themselves.
The author, who takes a firm stand that hunger in this country is
unacceptable, ventures some possible solutions to this underreported,
and terrible, reality.
