Review

This is a re-telling of one of the most enduring mysteries of the sea.
No one knows how the small brigantine Mary Celeste came to be found off
the Azores Islands with sails set and everything in order, but not a
person on board nor were any ever found. The author explores the Nova
Scotia connections of this tale from the perspectives of Spencer’s
Island, Cumberland County, where the mystery ship was built, the
salvaging ship Dei Gratia docked, and the Nova Scotia men in her crew
lived. This is a well-told, straightforward account that ought to find
an appreciative audience.
