Review

This joint publication neatly brings together work from both sides of
the Canada–U.S. border. Included are poems, short fiction, and
nonfiction from 24 authors. The Canadians, who constitute exactly half
of the contributors, are listed by province. Although most of them are
familiar names, biographical notes are provided. Many of the American
authors were new to this reviewer.

The introduction deals separately with the contributing countries and
tells the story of how the book came about. Among the Canadian authors
represented in the anthology are Ven Begamudré, Sharon Butala, Carol
Shields, Di Brandt, Lorna Crozier, Anne Szumigalski, and Robert
Kroetsch.
