Review

The author of this wonderful book would make a great late-night radio
guru. His mind dances all over the place—around history, philosophy,
boxing, war, religion, literature. Using ironic juxtaposition, Davies
knits incidents with epiphanies into a loose-fitting narrative that
suits him to a T. His morality colors his passion. He’s funny in
“Looking for Fidel,” sad and angry in “The Parallel Postulate,”
and, as the intellectual insider, sensitive in “Next.” Reading
Oblique Litanies will make your day, and more.
