Review

The prolific John B. Lee, author of 15 previously published titles,
presents in this collection a veritable smorgasbord of topics ranging
from childhood memories to reflections on death, from family
relationships to the American Dream, from the differences (and the
relationships) between the sexes to aspects of faith and divine grace,
from the importance of various body parts and bodily functions to
religions and philosophies of life.

Lee makes effective use of rhythm and repetition to elevate the most
mundane topic into the realm of the extraordinary and the spiritually
significant. At times, he overuses the technique of repetition, to the
point of detracting from rather than adding to the impact of the poems,
but on the whole it works rather well.
