Review
As the title suggests, this is a guide to investment banking and
corporate finance in Canada—the first such guide this reviewer has
encountered. The range of topics is impressive, with sections devoted to
restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, debt products, and
derivatives. Also discussed are technology and management issues.
Obviously, much effort has gone into making the book accessible to the
layperson. Various business activities are described in jargon-free
language. There is an excellent description of the Eurobond market and
its application to potential Canadian borrowers. For the nonlawyer,
there is a helpful legal-issues discussion in the asset-backed
securities section. For the businessperson contemplating a management
buyout, an acquisition, or a merger, the book contains useful strategic,
valuation, and tax information.
This information-filled book successfully covers virtually all of the
major topics related to investment banking in Canada today.
