Review

A manual for sewing cuddly toys out of fabric, this book contains
instructions that are clear enough for beginning sewers. Introductory
information is provided concerning working successfully with specialty
fabrics such as plush, stretch velour, and fleece. Sewing tips and a
useful glossary of sewing terms are included. Twelve patterns, with
easy-to-follow instructions and diagrams, are provided. Each pattern has
a template drawn on a grid. (Most templates must be enlarged when
photocopied.)

Many of the toys can be sewn from scraps of cloth, which makes this an
economical craft. Adornments, such as embroidered or button eyes and
noses, are addressed as a separate category and allow for personal
choice on the part of the home sewer. Freedom to choose these decorative
details and colors of fabrics ensures the production of a delightful
cuddly toy with its creator’s own personal stamp.
