Review

This authoritative paperback is a must-read for all winter outdoor
enthusiasts—beginners and grizzled veterans alike. The extensive text
is complemented and clarified by frequent illustrations.

Core aspects of this rapidly growing winter sport that are thoroughly
discussed include clothing, sleeping, and shelter systems; skiing
nutrition and cooking; trip planning; emergencies and how to deal with
them; and travel by map and compass.

Careful reading of this book should maximize one’s enjoyment of
winter camping while minimizing the risks. For those still not convinced
of any sane reason to pursue snow camping, Creore offers perhaps the
most convincing one: no mosquitoes!
