Review

This book contains useful information for all gardeners, not just for
those who need to overcome barriers of age and physical limitations. The
larger-than-average print and excellent layout (including sidebars) make
the book inviting and appealing. Visually impaired readers with scanning
equipment (computer equipment that “reads” the printed page) may
have problems with their equipment due to the complexity of the page
layouts.

The many valuable suggestions on how to improve gardens and gardening
techniques include tips for reducing back strain (e.g., beach chairs for
weeding) and exercises designed to build up a gardener’s stamina. The
author also provides much practical information on such aspects as
garden design for physically and visually challenged gardeners.

Yeomans approaches gardening as a pastime from which all people can
benefit. Her books will make a wonderful and useful addition to any
gardening enthusiast’s collection.
