Review

This is a reprint of Bolger’s compilation of the history of Prince
Edward Island. first issued in 1973 (to commemorate the centennial of
P.E.I.’s entry into Confederation). While it remains a good overview
of the political and economic history of Prince Edward Island from the
early colonial period to the colony’s entry into Confederation, this
history will add nothing new to our knowledge of Canada’s smallest
province. While Nimbus Publishing must be commended for making this
volume accessible once again, several additional chapters to incorporate
the recent developments in P.E.I. history or, at least, a new conclusion
to bring the story of P.E.I. up to the present would have made this book
more worthwhile.
