Review

Despite its misleading title, this book is a biographical dictionary,
the first of three intended to cover each of the armed services. Author
Bishop, son of Billy Bishop, V.C., and himself a World War II fighter
pilot, has put together a good and well-illustrated list of airmen who
distinguished themselves in two world wars and the Korean War. His
entries are longer than is usual for books of this sort (some running to
three or four pages), and his research appears as complete as his prose
is clear and straightforward. The result is a record of courage and one,
as they say, that fills a long-felt need. We await his books on soldiers
and sailors.
