Review

Based on the 1994 conference of the same name, this collection of papers
expresses the emerging united voice of the conservative and orthodox
constituencies of the Anglican Church—evangelicals, charismatics, and
Anglo-Catholics. Its contributors range from James I. Packer, a
world-famous theologian from Vancouver’s Regent College; to Anthony
Burton, Canada’s youngest Anglican bishop; to Elaine Pountney, a
Toronto-based counselor in private practice.

The book is divided into five sections, which examine, respectively,
the current state of the Anglican Church in a post-Christian, pluralist
Canada; the person of Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible;
ministry, worship, and sexual ethics; evangelism and social issues
ministry in the present cultural context; and the renewal of the Church.
The 24 papers are challenging but not beyond the scope of the thoughtful
layperson.
