Review

This is a handy book for newly minted secretaries and administrative
assistants, or even people (like me) who serve on voluntary boards. The
author demonstrates techniques, the democratic process, styles of
meetings—including body language—and provides 20 samples of
notebooks, agenda headings, notices, and so forth. Topics for discussion
include agendas (styles, numbering systems, teleconferencing), bylaws
and constitutions, jargon, resolutions, the minute book, voting
practices, parliamentary procedures, recorders, and motions. Lots of
little things can go wrong, but Watson deals with them sensibly.
