Review

This book has been an excellent resource for schoolteachers since 1987
and is now available to the public. It would be equally useful for
families that want to make Christmas celebrations more meaningful and
less hectic, while still providing lots of fun. Activities to help
spread the spirit of Christmas and of giving are suggested. These make
good use of environmentally friendly materials. Interspersed among
suggestions and directions for making gifts, cards, and decorations is
information about children in Third World countries: the food shortages,
danger of war and its effects, and poverty. There is a lot of
information in this book on all aspects of Christmas and giving. Not all
will be new to the reader but there are enough new ideas in this book to
make it a helpful and enjoyable addition to the Christmas library.
