Review

Steam locomotives hold a unique place in the hearts and minds of those
who worked on them, and of later railway buffs. The appeal of this
volume lies in the excellent quality of the black-and-white photographs
and the careful, detailed, and well-informed technical descriptions. The
first 16 pages along with the front and back covers feature photos of
Canadian National steam locomotives. Photos of diesel locomotives, an
old Canadian National pile driver, an unusual snowplow, and an aerial
view of the Transcona (Winnipeg) yards complete the collection.
