Review

This guide is an essential resource for all parents. In an age when
there is a myriad of medications available for children, this book takes
most of the difficulty out of the choices between medications parents
must make. It also answers common questions about the safety, adverse
effects, and desired effects of many medications, both prescription and
nonprescription.

In an era when large numbers of different brands of essentially the
same medications compete in the marketplace, this valuable resource book
affords the parent information about what he/she is actually giving the
child. In addition, it allows the parent of a sick child to make the
best possible use of limited time spent with health-care agents. A
well-prepared parent can clearly use this time to his/her child’s best
advantage. The section on adverse effects may be particularly useful in
stimulating early identification and intervention for these potentially
serious problems for children.
