Review

This is a proud, yet understatedly elegant work. Fitzharris shot this
wonderful collection of landscape and wildlife photographs in Canada,
the United States, Europe, and Africa. His landscapes are brilliant in
their use of light, design and color, and he has an intimacy with
animals that is fresh and exciting. His images powerfully infuse
wildlife (from the garter snake to the roaring elephant seal) with human
qualities.

This is more than a “how-to” book: Fitzharris is very generous with
secrets “to get you the shot you want,” tricks you might try, and
tips on the lenses, filters, film, and protection you might need to get
more-adventurous shots. He has a psychological awareness that allows him
to get beyond the obvious and truly create individual portraits of his
subjects—a master artist.

This inspiring book will entice nature lovers of all ages, and
challenge photographers of all levels. Simply written, it has great
warmth and humor, yet it is technically literate.
