Review

Get-rich-quick schemes attract considerable attention in our material
world. Despite the book’s title, it is not in this category. Its
thrust is sound financial planning and positive approaches to lifestyle
changes that will lead anyone who wants financial freedom closer to it.

Effective money management leads to a more confident lifestyle and a
promising retirement. Since many Canadians achieve the retirement age
and soon find their financial options reduced, the author uses a simple
historical development to present the basics of financial planning. Past
errors should be viewed as learning situations: the important idea is to
begin to plan. RRSPs are suggested as a simple method to force us to
prepare for retirement and/or to provide wider financial options. A wide
range of other saving techniques such as gics, csbs, savings deposits,
and life insurance are also suggested. With a positive manner, the
author develops a simple technique to improving our financial futures.
