Review

Originally published as The Index to Federal Programs and Services; this
guide now includes all central agencies as well as line departments. In
all, 145 areas are described: agencies, boards, Crown corporations, the
judiciary, departments, and Parliament. Part 1 focuses on telephone
services, listing Reference Canada numbers, toll-free numbers, and
hotlines. Part 2 has addresses and phone numbers. There is an extensive
subject index, along with lists of bookstores that sell government
publications and depository libraries that have them available for free
viewing.

This guide is indispensable if you want to know about the organization
of Canada’s government, and about how the system is supposed to work.
