Population Profile of China

Che-Alford, a Chinese-Canadian executive of Statistics Canada, had the
co-operation of the State Statistical Bureau of China to present data
from that country’s 1982 census in an understandable, visual form in
English and French. Her work covers population, households, education,
fertility, industry, occupation and working population, women, the
elderly (60 and over), youth (15 to 24), and minorities. The 24 maps and
50 charts (all—maps and charts—in color) were produced using the 10
percent sample data of the 1982 census. They are complemented by tables
that present the full-census data. A supplementary booklet contains the
complete text in Chinese.
