Review

Political cartoons and caricatures have a short shelf life; the
goings-on that filled the headlines only months ago have already faded
into the obscurity reserved for dead political issues, making room for
fresh scandals and brand new idiocies.

Only the satirical wit of a master craftsman like Andy Donato could
make thumbing back through a sheaf of outdated editorial cartoons (taken
from the pages of the Toronto Sun) an enjoyable prospect. Some faces,
such as those of the present Prime Minister and his Cabinet, seem to
have been designed as natural targets for a poison (drawing) pen; but
President George Bush, Mme. Jeanne Sauvé, Joe Clark, Jean Chrétien,
and our humble selves, the taxpayers, among others, fail to escape
unscathed. This book represents Donato at the top of his form. It will
appeal to his fans.
